RTS Group steps out for great ‘walk’ of China!

The team here at learning and development agency RTS Group have been getting sweaty to raise money for charity as part of May’s National Walking Month – and plan to reach China!

Our staff and associates have been running, walking, rowing, cycling and swimming, then totting up the distance they travel, in a bid to get as far – virtually, at least – as our office in Beijing. Which is some achievement, as it’s 5,100 miles, as the crow flies!

Those taking part have donated a £5 entry fee, all of which will go to our chosen charities of the year. These are Sands, the stillbirth and neonatal death charity, and Wiltshire Mind, which runs groups and offers counselling for people with mental health issues. We also held a dress up day to raise some extra funds.

At the same we have been running a number of training sessions with Wiltshire Mind on mental health awareness, stress and anxiety as part of Mental Health Awareness Week.

Emma Tozer, our HR Advisor, said: “We are really pleased with how everybody has thrown themselves into the Walk to China. It’s great to raise funds in this way for two such excellent charities, and is really helping to engender our team spirit – plus we are all getting quite competitive about who will travel the furthest!”

Gemma is RTS Group’s super-efficient central services manager, responsible for the facilities and internal organisation of the business – everything from the IT, mobiles and building maintenance, down to the photocopier and coffee machine. She also coordinates our sales and marketing activities, covering everything from proposals to looking after our website. The life and soul of the central services team, before joining RTS Group Gemma was office manager at a computer company. Her first ever job was waitressing at a pub, where she saved £1,000 and bought her first car! As a new mum, Gemma’s not got much spare time but does enjoy restoring old furniture. She’s also the ‘mum’ of the central services team and describes herself as “an energetic multi-tasker”.
